SUMMARY:Racial Profiling, Implicit Bias, De-Escalation, & Suicide by Cop – 1 LS, 3 IP
DESCRIPTION:This comprehensive training program is designed to enhance law enforcement professionals’ awareness, judgment, and response when interacting with diverse communities and high-stress situations. The course integrates three critical areas—Racial Profiling & Implicit Bias, De-escalation Strategies & Techniques, and Suicide by Cop—to promote ethical, fair, and effective policing practices.\nParticipants will engage in guided discussions and case studies focused on recognizing implicit bias, understanding diversity, and applying fair and impartial policing principles. The training emphasizes active listening, communication, and negotiation skills to safely and effectively de-escalate crises. Additionally, the course explores the complex dynamics of “suicide by cop” incidents, including risk indicators, response strategies, and officer wellness considerations.\nThrough interactive learning and real-world examples, students will strengthen their ability to:\n\n\nRecognize and address implicit bias and stigmas in policing\n\n\nApply ethical decision-making and cultural awareness in community interactions\n\n\nUtilize de-escalation techniques to resolve potentially volatile encounters\n\n\nUnderstand legal standards and case law relevant to use of force and crisis intervention\n\n\nIdentify and manage self-care issues following critical incidents\n\n\nThis program equips law enforcement professionals with the insight, tools, and confidence to uphold public trust while ensuring officer and community safety.\n
