DESCRIPTION:Vista Law Enforcement Training and Consulting, LLC, in cooperation with Missouri State Public Safety Training Center, has scheduled this 8-hour POST-approved training program, titled “Defensive Driving Techniques/Emergency Vehicle Operations.”  This training program is presented by current and retired first responder personnel who are experts in defensive\ndriving and emergency vehicle operations.\nTopics include:\n• Missouri statutes and U.S. Supreme Court rulings regarding emergency vehicle operations\n• Department policies and procedures in emergency vehicle operations and vehicle pursuits\n• The differences between “Civil Liability and Criminal Liability,” and the consequences of operating an emergency vehicle in a “negligent” or “reckless” manner\n• “Vehicle dynamics,” regarding the physical limitations of a motor vehicle to prevent loss of control by a first responder\n• Proper methods in the operation of an emergency vehicle during regular duties or operations\n• Proper tactics and techniques in operating an emergency vehicle during emergency vehicle operations, and during low and high-speed vehicle operations\n• Practical (low-speed) driving exercises and techniques observed and evaluated by instructors\nThis program is designed for all first responders who operate emergency vehicles. Attendees must supply an agency-approved emergency vehicle (multiple individuals from the same agency may bring one vehicle\nfrom their respective agency).\n
