Meet The Mentor

Luis Perez Batres

Luis A. Perez is the Head of the Department of Management and Dean’s Professor of Sustainability at Missouri State University (MSU). Before joining MSU, Dr. Perez served as the Chair of the Department of Management and Presidential Fellow at Central Michigan University and as a visiting scholar and faculty affiliate at the University of Michigan’s Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Strategy (Texas A&M University) and an M.S. in Finance (University of Illinois). His research has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, published in prestigious journals, and presented at top international conferences.

“In a former life,” after graduating summa cum laude at Monterrey Tech-Campus Laguna (B.S. in Accounting), Luis worked for a DuPont explosives plant and large financial institutions while engaging in various entrepreneurial activities.

His wife Cristina has an M.A. in Spanish and teaches at MSU’s World Languages and Cultures Department. Tony, their youngest son, graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and now lives in New York City. Lucy has an MBA from Rice University and works in Houston. Alex’s MBA is from Central Michigan University, and he lives in Monterrey, MX. Christian owns a small business also in Monterrey.
