Culture Flock is local indie clothing and accessories brand located in downtown Springfield. They believe in equality for all, being kind to others, protecting our planet, and having fun everyday. This past week, they joined us at The eFactory to share their story and things that they have learned while building a creative startup.

Summer and Brittney will tell you that they wish that had an awesome story of how Culture Flock started. They talked about how they were both at a transition point in their lives and it made sense to take the opportunity to start this clothing company.
They shared a series of lessons that they learned firsthand while starting their company. Here are a few of my favorites:
Moving Through Fear
Summer and Brittney spoke at length about what it felt like “moving through fear.” Culture Flock started by attending a local festival with only five designs. Five! This was the first time that they put their artwork out there in public to be critiqued.
Making Mistakes
Do not be afraid to make mistakes! There’s a bigger chance that you will learn more from your mistakes than you do your successes. Culture Flock can attest to this. Trial and error is really the best teacher.
Importance of Community
This was probably my favorite point that they made. Community is vital. Whether in business or in your personal life, there’s nothing like knowing you have a group of people that’s ready to have your back and support you in the things that you’re pursuing. Culture Flock raved about the art and creative community that is thriving in Springfield and they are honored to be a part of it!
