Welcome Katie Young to the team

MSU Student Employment has a new Assistant Director: Katie Young. Katie is a proud native of southwest Missouri. Growing up in the scenic Table Rock Lake region, she has developed a deep connection to the community and a love for the outdoors.

Katie has years of history with the student employment office and it’s shaped her into a dedicated advocate for student success. We are thrilled to have Katie join our team and are confident that her leadership and enthusiasm will inspire students to get involved and make a difference around campus.

What are you most excited about working for efactory?

I am most excited about working at efactory to be a part of a innovative sector of the university that is investing in both the students and the Springfield community.

Where did you grow up and what did you study?

I grew up in Kimberling City down on Table Rock Lake and went to Reeds Spring all thirteen years. I got my bachelors in recreation and leisure studies, then my Masters in student affairs, both from Missouri State University.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Springfield?

One of our favorite things in the Springfield area to do is go to Millsap Farms pizza night when they are running that from May to October. I love taking my family, meeting my friends, meeting my book club, and my daughter celebrates her birthday there every year. It’s one of our favorite places to enjoy delicious pizza and the outdoors.

What’s one of your bucket list items?

My bucket list includes visiting every continent. I used to say except Antarctica, but now I say, why not?!? I have 3 to go (including Antarctica)!

What is your best piece of advice to students thinking about getting a job?

My best piece of advice for students thinking about getting a job would be to be diligent. The job search takes patience. If you have the ability to add a resume and cover letter, that always makes your application stronger.
