There could not be a better time for the City of Springfield to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development. City leaders know it takes an intentional approach to foster entrepreneurship, and the City of Springfield is so committed to economic growth that they recently created a new Economic Vitality Department that will “focus on vibrancy and taking a proactive approach to helping businesses and entrepreneurs, which directly impacts our economic ecosystem,” according to Deputy City Manager Maurice S. Jones.
These changes position the City to focus on several important aspects of economic development, including encouraging reinvestment and quality economic growth, coordinating significant development projects that impact the community’s tax base, facilitating the retention and expansion of existing businesses, promoting entrepreneurship, and attracting new businesses by fostering a positive business environment.
