Laura Wright is the Assistant Training Coordinator for Missouri State University, Public Safety Training Center located in Camdenton, Missouri.
She worked for Camdenton Police Department her entire career, from 1979 till her retirement in October 2020. During her 41 years with the PD, she obtained several thousand hours of specialty training, attended the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Training in Lawrence, Kansas in 2000 and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA in 2003. While at the Police Department, she worked her way up through the ranks and served the last 20 years as Chief of Police.
MSU Public Safety Training Center was launched in 2017 to provide continuing education training for law enforcement officers in the lake area. Laura joined MSU PSTC in September 2019 and assists in coordinating the training as well as the documentation required to maintain the continuing education provider certification from Missouri Department of Public Safety. It has expanded to include private investigators, jailers and dispatch training as well as ALERRT Active Shooter training thru a grant from Homeland Security.
She is a member of Missouri Police Chief’s Association, Missouri Peace Officers Association, FBI National Academy Associates and serves on the Lake Career and Technical Center Criminal Justice Program in Camdenton to help review course curriculum for students interested in law enforcement as a career in the future.
