Felony Traffic Stops and Use of Force Review

In this course, the class will discuss the dangers and safety concerns for traffic stops, misdemeanor and felony and the differences.  The students will discuss proper procedures for traffics stops including proper approach of vehicle, use of radio to clearly communicate, using equipment and vehicle to their advantage to enhance safety.   The Students will then demonstrate these techniques as they perform mock traffic stops.  Additionally, this course of instruction covers the Use of Force protocols and guidelines for law enforcement officers including the provisions of the United States Constitution & Missouri Revised Statutes as it relates to the justifiable use of force.  There will be a review of the landmark case, Graham v. Connor and Electronic Control Devices and the use of force laws applicable to deployment of said devices.
