Missouri State University’s efactory Awarded $500,000 in MOBEC Funds from Missouri Technology Corporation

Funds will support programs for regional startups and growing businesses.

A half-million-dollar boost is coming to southern Missouri’s startup scene. Missouri State University’s efactory has been awarded $500,000 over the next three years from the Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC) through its Missouri Building Entrepreneurial Capacity (MOBEC) program. This signifies an investment that will help launch and scale high-growth businesses across the region.

As a business support and talent development hub, efactory plays a critical role in powering the region’s entrepreneurial engine. The new MOBEC funding will support efactory’s operations, helping founders access vital resources, create jobs and drive innovation throughout southern Missouri.

“The MOBEC Grant Program allows for strategic investments in Missouri’s entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Jack Scatizzi, Executive Director of MTC. “By supporting the organizations that serve the state’s entrepreneurs, we’re expanding the entrepreneurial capacity by providing the resources needed for innovators to thrive and drive economic growth throughout the state.”

Currently, more than 100 businesses operate from efactory’s incubator and coworking spaces, with over 200 individuals calling it their professional home base. In addition to physical space, efactory offers business consulting, mentorship, student talent connections, and business and professional development training opportunities.

“This award from MTC helps make what we do possible,” said Rachel Munday, executive director of efactory. “We are grateful for MTC’s support and are excited to deepen our impact by helping more businesses grow and thrive.”
