Interview and Interrogation

This course will cover the following learning objectives:

  1. The investigator should do the following prior to an interview to prepare:
  • Review available information
  • Police reports
  • Written statements
  • Photographs of the crime scene
  • Develop your skill to conceptualize the crime scene if you aren’t going to
    work the scene.
  1.  The investigator should ensure the following goals are met at before the start and ending of an interrogation:
  • To obtain a truthful statement from the suspect
  • Ensure that the procedures used in obtaining the statement allow it to
    be admissible in criminal court.
  • Detailed statement that allows for corroboration.
