11:30 a.m. – 12:45 pm: Protecting Our Local Waterways: Community Partnerships for a Sustainable Future

The Springfield community has a long history of collaboration focused on protecting and preserving our local water resources. Both the quality and quantity of our surface and groundwater are recognized as vital community assets and closely tied to the region’s economic vitality.

This panel will explore these collaborative relationships through the perspectives of several community partners. Panelists will discuss the progress Springfield has made in managing and protecting its water resources, highlight exciting current initiatives, and examine future challenges facing our community.

Representatives from nonprofit organizations, private industry, local government, and Missouri State University faculty engaged in locally focused research will share how these partnerships continue to protect and preserve our water resources for future generations.

This panel will be moderated by Marc Owen and include perspectives from:

  • Mike Kromrey, Watershed Committee of the Ozarks
  • Bobbilynne Koepke, Environmental Works
  • Saki Urushidani, City of Springfield-Environmental Services
